Art projects

Here are a couple picture of my type design projects. We had to build a font in fontruct (www.fontstruct.com) then apply the design to something I decided to go with a cube where I drilled holes in a cube and put a light inside. (made for a cool lamp or a great conversation piece)
The book below was a project that we had to take all are type repairs from class and put them in a book turn out OK used glow in the dark ink for the silk screen.

radio flyer

A FEW HOURS WITH ROBIN BANK$
The other night I was sittting at home thinking of something to do so I decided to call up a good friend and dj, Dj Robin Bank$ who is usually out and about or at least knows of something to do. He tells me he is djing at one of the local radio show here in Vancouver (Art of Beats) maybe you've heard of it, or maybe not. It's a long time running radio show on cfro FM102.7 or on the inter web @ www.coopradio.org. They cater to a eclectic audience mostly fitting in the the field of electronic music, so house techno or jungle dubstep or a assortment of ambient music. This brings me back to meeting up with Bank$, I quickly get ready and race down to meet him knowing that he needs to start the show at 12am and its 11:30pm now and I'm about 15 min from his place. I grab a couple drinks from the fridge and race down. Not much traffic so all is good, I give him shout on my phone, he yell out the window and races down to meet me outside. The night is warm so we decide to crack open a couple of drinks and walk down to the radio station. Now the radio station is not located in the best area of town so it could make for a interesting walk. Robin tells me of a bomb threat that some one had called in earlier that evening, at the park across the street from his place "strange" I think to myself, "why the park"? Anyway He mentions how the streets around the park and beyond were block off from traffic for several hours with the cops and their dogs racing around looking for evidence of a bomb. As we walk and talk about music and bombs we are occasionally interrupted by someone either wanting to sell us something, drugs or goods of some sort or interrupted by someone wanting change. Its quiet enough out so we are not harassed to much. The occasionally cop car races by lights flashing as another cop has a car pulled over and a young man in handcuffs. By time we get to the radio station I'm 3/4 finish my drink and we are a little late but the show hasn't started so Robin Bank$ quickly set up his gear, has some small technical difficulties, but work it all out just in time for the show to start. The radio station looks similar to most of the the radio stations I've been in. A lots of paper lying around advertisement for other radio shows this one a little dirtier being that its in the lower east side of Vancouver so there might be a random wheelchair in the studio and you wouldn't think twice about it. The only thing you might do, is try and race it down the halls and see who can get the best time. "now if only there were two of wheelchairs". I hang out with the host of the show and talk about random stuff. The lights are low, you can feel the music move you through out the studio. He's playing a set of deep new york classic house some nu disco and a little electro, "man that sound good". He plays a lot of great tracks, but one stands out to me. Its an old strictly rhythm record by planet soul. This track brings me back to the days of the warehouse parties, glow sticks and... . What a great bass line simple and deep.
